You can use AudioTake to do audio recordings with your iPhone. AudioTake can be used to do voice recordings, and any other king of audio recording. You can produce your personal audio documents. Record your singing children, as you can hear on the sample file, or catch special moments of your life and share them with friends or relatives. It’s possible to send recorded files as an email attachment, or exchange data within your Dropbox account. Sound files can be sent to and retrieved from Dropbox. Supported fileformats are “caf” and “m4a”.

The operation is very simple and a reminiscent to the good old fashioned tape recorder. You start recording by using the red record button and stop it by touching the stop button. You can listen your recordings by touching the play button. Recording and playing can be interrupted by using the pause button. The pause button is visible in play or record mode only. While recording or playing the used filename is inserted underneath the tape reel.
You can manage recorded files when you touch on the lower right side. This will change to the list of recorded files where you can select or delete files.
By touching the “i” on the upper right side of the tape recorder, you will see a page which gives you the opportunity to send the selected file per email, or use the Dropbox to copy it into one shared folder of your Dropbox account. On top of this page, you see the filename of the selected file.
By pressing the settings button, you enter the settings page. There you can change the filename, reset the filename counter and set the type of your recorded files. Possible values are CAF and M4A. You can change from MONO to STEREO recording. This only makes sense, when using an external microphone, because nowadays iPhone do not have a built in stereo microphone.
The last opportunity you find on this page is to set the sampling rate. You can choose between 44.1kHz which represents CD quality, 22.05kHz is halve the CD quality and 11.3kHz. Using lower sampling rates will decrease the size of the generated files dramatically. The same is for using mono and stereo. This will double the size. Finally you have the option to reset all changes you made by pressing the restore button.
